Celebrate GALentines Day with DIY Gifts
Last year, I talked about GALentines Day, how it came to be a thing and shared different ways you could celebrate your girls. I shared all my tips again this morning with my gal pals on Good Morning Washington. Check it out:
One of the tips was to exchange DIY gifts. I like to get a little crafty every now and then and I also like to save money so the idea of making a gift instead of buying one is perfect.
For this GALentines Day, I decided to make two different gifts: 1) a sugar scrub, because I LOVE a good sugar scrub and they’re pretty easy to make and 2) a tote bag with a glitter heart painted on it.
Both these DIY’s come together easily and are customizable to your taste or the taste of the gift recipient.
Let’s start with the sugar scrub
What you need:
- 1 cup white sugar
- 1/2 cup coconut oil
- 20 drops rose absolute essential oil
- Handful fresh rose petals (look for roses without pesticides)
I decided on a rose sugar scrub because it seemed to go nicely with the whole “love” theme of this month. The rose petals and essential oil add a beautiful scent and the coconut oil is super moisturizing which is perfect for dry winter skin.
Next up is the heart tote bag. This one is a remix of the Heart Sweatshirt I made a few years back. I used the same technique, the only difference is that I used a tote bag instead of a shirt.
There you have it! Two easy peasy gifts you can make yourself. You could even get together with your girls and make them together.
What say you? How do you celebrate your girls?

Thanks for the sugar scrub recipe! I was going to buy some but you made this look easy. You’re such a natural in front of the camera. I hope they have you back soon. Happy Valentine’s Day.
