Self Care Sunday with Massage Envy

By  |

I told y’all I’m buying a house right? Well, this process is STRESSFUL! So when the fine folks at Massage Envy Waldorf reached out and asked if I’d be interested in experiencing one of their spa services, I jumped at the chance.

The folks at Massage Envy  treated me to complimentary services but as usual, all opinions are my own.

“Massage envy is a network of hundreds of franchise owners employing more than 25,000 massage therapists, estheticians, and employees who consider it their job to be passionate in their support of your commitment to total body care: an integral part of everyone’s well-being journey.”

I’ve had many massages in my day, (the hot stone massage is my fave) but I had never even considered getting a facial. I thought that facials were for people who had skin problems but nope, massage envy offers several different facials for different skin types.  Massage Envy boasts the benefits of facials as:

  • Moisturizes skin
  • Reverses visible signs of aging
  • Improves skin tone and texture
  • Alleviates redness and sensitivity
  • Reduces fine lines and wrinkles
  • Reduces blemishes and breakouts

When I arrived, my esthetician Desiree sat down with me and went over my skincare needs and the different types of facials that Massage Envy offers.

There are four choices for facials: Environmental Shield Vitamin C, Clarifying Enzyme Acne, Anti-Aging and Sensitive Skin Facials.

After that, I was instructed to stick my head into this futuristic machine called the skin scanner,  that would magnify and identify any skin issues that might be present. The scanner uses a special light to help the esthetician decide which facial would be best for your needs.

Desiree determined that the sensitive skin facial would be best for me.

She broke down all the steps in the facial process and we proceed to the treatment room.

*Pro tip: Your esthetician will be working from your collar up so wear something that keeps this area clear. I wore a strapless maxi dress and it was perfect.

After I’d made myself comfy on the treatment table, the first step was to cleanse my face. This step included steam and it was soooo relaxing. I’m pretty sure I fell asleep at that point.  After the treatment (glycolic acid peel) and moisturizer the whole thing was topped off with a ridiculously relaxing massage (shoulder and arms).

This was a much needed moment of relaxation and I’ll definitely add facials to my self-care arsenal from now on.

What say you? When is the last time you pampered yourself? What’s your fave spa service?
