‘OITNB’ Star Uzo Aduba HuffPost Live

This evening I got the opportunity to join Orange is The New Black star Uzo Aduba for a segment on HuffPost Live. To say that I was excited is an understatement. I'm hooked on OITNB and Uzo's character Suzanne 'Crazy Eyes' Warren is one of my favorites.

If it were up to me, we would have chatted for hours about the show (does Suzanne have a new wife?) and her upcoming role as Glinda The Good Witch in The Wiz Live (I've been obsessed with The Wiz since childhood). Alas, I only had time for one question:

Before OITNB, you considered quitting acting. What advice would you give to someone else who is considering giving up?

Here's what she had to say:

I would tell them to never, ever give up. That day that that happened, the thing that I learned is that you must always keep the faith. That is what I learned out of that experience. And that if you have something in your heart, in your spirit that is telling you “I must do this” and you feel that push, that call to do it, and it is in you, forget what naysayers are trying to tell you, forget what the haters are trying to tell you, forget what seems to be the rational track to pursue it, always bet on yourself. That would be the thing I would say; to just bet on you. Always bet on you. And just never give up.
