My #NaturalHair Story

I’ve teamed up with the folks at You Be-Natural, to give you a peek into my haircare situation. While I’m being compensated for this post, all opinions are my own.

My hair has never really been at the top of my priority list. I mean, I’m not stepping out looking like whodunit but I’m definitely super low maintenance.

My Natural Hair Story | The Style Medic

Before coloring, washing and doing all the things

Recently, I’ve had lots of people ask about my hair (cut, color, etc.) So I figured now would be a good time to share with the class.
When I decided to rock my natural hair 8 years ago, it wasn’t for health reasons or because it was trendy… I just didn’t want the hassle of having to straighten my hair in the summertime. Because: lazy.

After a few years of natural hair trials and tribulations, I learned that my hair responds best when I just leave her alone. She’s wild and free and does not like to be tamed honey.

4 years ago I decided to join #TeamShortHair (again, lazy) and it hasn’t been longer than chin length since because I just can’t.  As for the color, I started gradually, with a barely visible purple that has evolved into the various shades of purple/pink/fuchsia that I rock these days.

My hair philosophy is simple: If I wanna try something, I do it. If I don’t like it, I can cut it or it will grow out. NBD. #YOLO

  1. Well I love your natural do!! I am in the process of transitioning primarily because I have been inspired by the process of learning my daughter’s hair and how beautiful natural hair can be. Silly, I know. I simply never really thought of it. But putting my hands in her hair daily and learning all the really fun, pretty things that can be done with natural hair has inspired me to see what can be done with mine. EEkks… we shall see when the protective style is out and I’m all naturale.

I know it’s jut hair but I’m afraid of the outcome sometimes. I’m just saying, I would love to cut it off with no hair on the sides but if I look jacked, I can’t put on a wig. LOL. Brave soul and fortunately it looks good on you!

  3. I love natural hair it looks great on you!
