Beauty, Brains & Blogging: Meet Adaora Andrea
I’m super excited y’all.
Style & beauty go hand in hand and while I can get my own makeup situation together I don’t have the interest in ability to do that for anyone else. I enjoy makeup. I love to play in makeup. I like to buy makeup products because they’re pretty even though I have no intention on using them regularly. Don’t Judge me.
Since beauty is not my ministry I set out to find someone who’s as obsessed with makeup as I am with fashion. Or pizza.
The search is over. Meet The Style Medic’s new beauty blogger, Adaora.
Name: Adaora Andrea
Occupation: High School Senior, Makeup Artist, Vlogger
First off, tell us a little about your beauty biz, Beauty by Roda. What inspired you to start it?
I was an extreme tomboy growing up. You would never catch me wearing a skirt or even makeup. One day I was on the phone with my friend and his friend who was recently in a pageant. She tried to talk makeup with me but I didn’t understand anything she was talking about. Then, she said, “Oh, you’re one of those girls.” I was actually pretty taken aback. What was THAT supposed to mean? So I was determined to get into makeup, but along the way, I sincerely fell in love with it. During my sophomore year of high school is when my love for makeup really escalated. I practiced on myself all the time learning new techniques and enhancing skills almost every single day. When I started getting better and better, my friends noticed my skill and would ask me to do their makeup. Being the awesome friend I am, I would willingly their faces and post them on my social media. Slowly but surely, my portfolio started to grow and more people started to contact me. I later ended up getting a logo to help brand myself and here I am with my own little business.
Why did you want to get into beauty vlogging?
While doing freelance work, I got a lot of people asking me to create a YouTube channel and post tutorials so they can learn at home. I got into beauty vlogging to teach people how to achieve simple makeup looks, to document my makeup journey because I am improving every day, but most importantly, to provide a community where individuals can come, talk, and learn more about a beauty topic they really love.

Where would you like this blog/vlog journey to take you?
I hope that this vlogging journey will expose me to the beauty industry on a different level than what I am used to. Maybe one day, I’ll be able collaborate with top brands to create an amazing product for women of color just like me. I want to be able to meet beauty vloggers who love doing what they do. Most importantly. I want to travel and meet the people that support what I do and thank them personally for their support.
